PASTOR R. MICHAEL SANDERS
Michael Sanders serves as Pastor of the Topinabee Community Church. He was born and raised in Mt. Vernon in Southern Illinois. There he attended school including community college. He received his B.S. degree from Southern Illinois University; his has two Masters degrees, including a Master of Divinity from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. His Doctorate is from the Oxford Graduate School. He served as a pastor for 27 years in Southern Illinois before coming to the Topinabee Community Church in 2001 where he served for six years. Pastor Mike then served several churches as transitional pastor in Lower Michigan before returning to Topinabee in 2012.
Pastor Mike met his wife Kathy while serving in Topinabee and they make their home in the area with their German Short-Haired Pointer, Trooper.
Pastor Mike has three children and five grandchildren living in Virginia, Illinois and Missouri.
He has written three books and writes a weekly column in the Petoskey and Cheboygan newspapers. Pastor Mike also served as a freshman boys’ basketball coach at the Inland Lakes High School. In his spare time he enjoys reading, traveling and recently purchased a new bicycle.

Topinabee Community Church has a very active Mission program. The Church contributes 10% of its offerings to Missions. . Some of the groups and organizations supported by these funds include Cheboygan Habitat for Humanity, Christian Resources International, Helping Hands food Pantry, Eat for Heat, Indian River Village Pharmacy, JAARS-Bible Interpretations, Larry Brown in support of the African Bible College in Malawi, Africa, Lord's Kitchen in Cheboygan, Northern Christian Radio, RBC Ministries (Our Daily Bread magazine), Cheboygan County Council on Aging, Women's Resource Center, Upper Room Magazine, and TCC youth activities.
